Best Buddies: Best Buddies is a nationally recognized organization. Its goal is "to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-on-one friendships... "As a volunteer you are paired up with an intellectually disabled individual. You stay in contact through a phone call, letter, or email. Twice a month you meet up to do something fun like a movie or the park. Contact: lledbett@tulane.edu
Blood Services: CACTUS Volunteers work with the Blood Center of Southeast Louisiana to organize campus blood drives throughout the academic year. Volunteers are needed to educate and provide a general awareness of the importance of blood donations on the Tulane campus. In addition, volunteers help publicize and recruit prospective donors for each blood drive. Contact: sgupta2@tulane.edu
Habitat for Humanity: Volunteers work one Saturday a month with Habitat building houses in various neighborhoods throughout New Orleans. Contact: yhitomi@tulane.edu
Project Grandpeople: Volunteers visit a local nursing home to participate in and plan activities with residents. Activities include individual visitations, arts & crafts, games, and holiday parties. Contact: kvail@tulane.edu
Paint Rally for New Orleans Public Schools : Volunteers meet on Saturdays to restore and paint New Orleans public schools to create a better learning environment for children across the city. Contact: pcozzone@tulane.edu
Ozanam Inn :. Volunteers combat the issues of hunger and homelessness in the city by working at the Ozanam Inn homeless shelter and soup kitchen. Contact: mahmad@tulane.edu
