Computational Sciences Center

Tulane Center for Computational SciencesThe Center for Computational Science at Tulane and Xavier Universities is the first Center established in the Gulf region to focus on computational science research projects across many disciplines. The Center provides an infrastructure for investigators interested in computational science to exchange ideas, produce research and establish new collaborations. The initial phase to establish the Center was made possible through funds from the U.S. Department of Energy and Tulane University. The Center, with 2 permanent staff members and four postdoctoral researchers, began operations at Tulane University in June 2001. Ten Tulane faculty and several Xavier faculty are involved in the Center, which also runs a seminar series with local and outside speakers. Contact: (504) 862-8391 or ccs@tulane.edu.

Center for Bioenvironmental Research
The Center for Bioenvironmental Research has facilities on the uptown campus, the Health Sciences Center, and the Xavier University campus. The CBR in its second decade continues to be led by Dr. McLachlan, who is assisted by an extraordinary executive staff. An effective administrative operation is in place. A highly creative Information Technology Operation with nine connected programmatic sites has developed strong communication links within the three campuses and with the external community of scholars and citizens. The CBR Faculty Council, composed of faculty from the three campuses, meet every other month to provide advice and counsel. The partnership between Tulane and Xavier, envisioned 12 years ago, remains strong and productive.Contact: (504) 585-6910 or cbr@tulane.edu.

Tulane/Xavier Collaboration
Over the past three decades, Tulane and Xavier Universities have worked together to develop joint research and academic projects to benefit the thousands of young people who attend our institutions. During this time, the Tulane/Xavier Partnership has grown from an informal association into an alliance that profoundly affects the economic, educational and community development of the City of New Orleans, the State of Louisiana and the nation.
