New Orleans and Tulane University have a wealth of culture, history, and plenty to offer. Tulane, located on the historic St. Charles Avenue, is one of the most prestigious universities in our nation. It stands on the avenue across from Audubon Park, the home of Audubon Zoological Gardens. This huge public park boasts countless oak trees, which are centuries old. Behind the park, flows the mighty Mississippi River, where traffic includes the steamboats, reminiscent of the young Mark Twain. On St. Charles Avenue, the streetcar (also known as a trolley car) rumbles to and from world famous Canal Street., carrying students, commuters, and tourists. Along the way, riders see the giant mansions of the Garden District, which have stood there for hundreds of years.
