| 2008 is the second
year that Tulane will be competing in RecycleMania, a ten-week
nationwide recycling competition among universities. Last
year we finished 72nd in paper recycling, 54th in cardboard
recycling and 75th in the Grand Champion category, which
measures the percentage of waste recycled. Last year RecycleMania
gave our campus recycling program a tremendous boost, as
our recycling in 2007 nearly doubled and is now back at
pre-Katrina levels.
Once again, Tulane will host an on-campus
recycling competition between student teams, sponsored by
Coca-Cola, Cingular Wireless, and the Office of University
Services. The teams that collect and weigh-in the largest
amount of recyclables will win prizes. This year's competition
features prizes for small, medium and large teams of up
to 50 students. Visit the Tulane
RecycleMania Competition website to learn about the
prizes and enroll your team.
RecycleMania measures how much we recycle
and how much we waste. Watch for special Tulane reusable
cups, waste reduction tips and stunts throughout the competition.
