Marco A. Castaneda received his B.A. with emphasis in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Alaska in Juneau and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis.  He teaches microeconomics, industrial organization, and game theory. 

His research is about the implications of incomplete contracts and asymmetric information for understanding the organization of production.  Finally, he was born in Mexico and enjoys playing golf and soccer.

Keith Finlay

Keith Finlay received his B.A. in economics from Reed College. He completed his doctoral work in economics in 2007 at the University of California, Irvine.

His dissertation, "External Effects of Incarceration in Labor and Marriage Markets," explores the effect of greater employer access to criminal history records on the labor market outcomes of ex-offenders and non-offenders. Dr. Finlay is currently working on projects examining low skill labor markets and the labor market effects of pre-employment screening.

Luciana was born in the city of Belo Horizonte, Brazil. She entered the Federal University of Minas Gerais in 1992 and received her B.A. in 1996. In the same year she entered the University of Sao Paulo to pursue the M.A. in Economics, received in 2000. Luciana went to the United States in 2001, when she started her studies at Brown University, finishing her M.A. in 2002 and her Ph.D. in 2007.

Her research interests are Economic Theory, including Microeconomics and Financial Economics. Her current work includes studies about the welfare effects of public policy and of market frictions, such as constraints on trade and access to markets. She is also interested in theory of consumption, including issues as the market of status goods.

Leandro Magnusson

Leandro is a Brazilian born in Sao Paulo, Brazil.  He received his B.A. and M.A. in Economics from the University of Sao Paulo.  Before starting the Ph.D. program at Brown, he worked at the Institute of Applied Economics in Brasilia as a researcher in labor economics.  Entering Brown University in 2001, he received his M.A. in 2002 and Ph.D. in 2007.

His research interest is Econometrics, both classical and Bayesian.  His current research is focused on hypothesis testing for limited dependent variable models with endogenous explanatory variables.  His future plans include the extension of his weak instruments robust tests to other econometric models.  He also wants to provide econometric expertise to his colleagues at the Department of Economics.

Jason Pearcy

Jason Pearcy received a B.S. in economics from Purdue University in 2001.  After working as an engineer, Jason went to the University of Colorado at Boulder to pursue graduate studies in economics.  Jason received his M.A. in 2004 and Ph.D. in 2007.

Professor Pearcy's research interests are in applied microeconomics, primarily in the fields of industrial organization and environmental economics.  His current research examines issues related to product differentiation and price discrimination across time.
