Louisiana Leveraging Educational Assistance Program (LEAP) Grants

General Information
LEAP Grants are federal grants with matching state funds that are awarded on the basis of both need and merit. Approximately 30 students who are Louisiana residents and are enrolled full-time in a full-time undergraduate division receive awards of up to $2,000 for the academic year.

The Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership ("LEAP") or Special Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership Grant Program is the new name for what used to be called the State Student Incentive Grant (SSIG) Program. It is funded by federal and state money. The program is administered by state agencies . In Louisiana, the administrative agency is the Office of Student Financial Assistance .

The State Office of Student Financial Assistance historically does not release a university's SSIG award allocation until September. Therefore, SSIG funds are not included in any original aid offers. SSIG funds, once awarded, will replace an equal amount of Tulane Need-Based scholarship in a student's aid package. Students who receive SSIG funds will be sent a revised Financial Aid Notification letter.
