The Stress Management Clinic at the Tulane University Student Health Center is a specialty clinic housed within the Department of Psychiatry.  Under the direction of Randall M. Graf, Ph.D., the Stress Management Clinic operates from a model of Health Promotion and Prevention.  That is to say that while stress related disorders are diagnosed and treated, a larger aim of the clinic is to aid patients in reducing and/or eliminating factors from their life that produce unhealthy symptoms.  Furthermore, patients with certain diagnosed medical disorders may also be able to better manage their medical conditions with adjunct clinical services provided by the professional staff at the Stress Management Clinic.

The Stress Management Clinic provides a variety of services which can be divided into three broad categories:

  1. Education & Prevention

Stress Management Education Groups
Outreach Programs
Stress and Anxiety Screenings
Lifestyle and Behavioral Health Evaluations

  1. Consultation

Consultation with individuals regarding stress
Consultation with patients’ primary-care doctors
Consultation with campus clubs and organizations concerning healthy living through appropriate stress control

  1. Clinical Services*

Individual Behavioral Health Counseling
Clinical Hypnotherapy
Biofeedback
Individualized Behavioral and Stress Management Therapy

Please note that because the Stress Management Clinic is a specialty clinic within the Department of Psychiatry, certain fees may apply to services rendered.  For more information, please call (504) 865-5255 x3.

*To receive clinical services from the Stress Management Clinic, patients must first be referred by their Primary-Care or other Student Health Center provider.  Patients referred for clinical services will receive a comprehensive intake evaluation by a member of the Clinic’s professional staff.  Some patients may be referred for further medical evaluation, testing and/or therapy before beginning treatment in the Stress Management Clinic.
