PAY FOR UNIVERSITY HOLIDAYS

All employees classified as full-time or part-time with benefits and who are not on an unpaid leave of absence will be paid at their regular rate for the holidays listed above.

Non-exempt employees classified as either full-time or part-time with benefits who are required to work on a University holiday (which does not include Winter Recess days) will receive additional holiday pay equal to one and one-half (1.5) times their regular rate for all time actually worked on the holiday.

Time worked in excess of a non-exempt employee’s regular workweek will be compensated according to the University’s overtime policy. Please note that additional holiday pay is not used to calculate overtime pay.

Non-exempt employees classified as either full-time or part-time with benefits whose normal work schedule does not fall on a University holiday (which does not include Winter Recess days), are entitled to a compensatory day in lieu of the holiday. For example, if an employee’s normal workweek is Tuesday through Saturday, and a University holiday falls on a Monday, the employee is entitled to a compensatory day for that holiday. The scheduling of this compensatory day must be approved in advance by your supervisor, and the compensatory day must be used within ninety (90) days of the regular University holiday.

WINTER RECESS

Those weekdays falling between Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve that are not listed as a Holiday are designated as standard Winter Recess days. The exact dates of the standard Winter Recess days will be distributed each year and posted on the Office of Human Resources web site. You are not required to report to work on standard Winter Recess days, unless otherwise instructed by your supervisor.

If a staff employee is required to work on any or all of the standard Winter Recess days, the employee may reschedule that number of Winter Recess days with the approval of his or her supervisor. The employee will receive pay only at his or her regular rate for work performed on standard Winter Recess days. The employee will receive pay only at his or her regular rate for rescheduled Winter Recess days.
