The Program in Jewish Studies

Friends of Jewish Studies at Tulane University

The Jewish Studies program at Tulane is very fortunate to have such loyal and supportive benefactors as the Friends of Jewish Studies. Not only do the Friends of Jewish Studies at Tulane have the goal of facilitating teaching, research and outreach, but they also help us tp provide scintillating events, movies, and lectures for our students, faculty, the New Orleans community and beyond.

Support from the Friends has allowed us to invite expert speakers from around the world to come to New Orleans. It permits us to purchase relevant materials for the L. Joseph Cahn Library. The Friends help to provide scholarships for students and faculty research. Donations also permit us to intensify our outreach efforts and bring advanced knowledge to the New Orleans community. One example will help illuminate the role of the Friends: Tulane's Jewish Studies Program will provide three speakers for the annual Lehrhaus series, the adult education program, that takes place in January. This year Lehrhaus will open in Touro Synagogue on January 9, 16 and 23 at 7 pm. Our speakers for the Lehrhaus are Sarina Chen (Tulane University), Nelly Gold (University of Pennsylvania), and Derek Penslar (University of Toronto) respectively.

If you would like to become a Friend of Tulane's Jewish Studies Program and partner with us in shaping young minds and sharing our magnificient culture, please email us at jwst@tulane.edu or call us at 504-865-5349.
