CirculationCirculationProviding patrons with ready access to library materials is the major goal of the Circulation Department. All circulation transactions are now processed on Voyager. Patrons checking Voyager for information about a particular title will now be able to tell from the screen if the library owns a copy and if it is checked out. >CIRCULATION PRIVILEGESTulane Medical Center faculty, students and staff have circulation privileges. These privileges also extend to the faculty, graduate students and staff of the university (uptown campus), and LSU Medical Center faculty and graduate level students. >LIBRARY CARDSA valid library card is required to check out any items or request other library services. To apply, a current I. D. must be presented and a registration form completed. >CIRCULATION PERIODSBooks circulate for three weeks, and journals circulate for two days (unbound journals after a one week display period). >RESERVE BOOKSSelected textbooks and other course-related materials are kept on reserve behind the circulation desk. They may be checked out for two hours for library use only. Most reserve materials may also be checked out of the library one hour before closing and are due one hour after opening the next day. Fines of $1.00/hour are charged for overdue reserve items. Faculty interested in placing items on reserve for student use please read the "For Faculty" section on the Course Reserves web page. >RENEWAL AND HOLDSBooks may be renewed once and journals twice provided no other request for the material is received during the loan period. Books and journals may be renewed in person or by phone Monday thru Friday, from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. The renewal must be requested within 1 day of the due date for journals and 7 days for books. Holds are special requests to have materials held for individuals when they become available to use. Holds can be placed on materials checked out or on current display. >OVERDUESThe library does not charge overdue fines with the exception of reserve materials; however, if items are not returned within a prescribed period of time after the due date, a $10.00 per item late fee will be charged and all library privileges suspended until materials are returned and the fee is paid.>PHOTOCOPIERSA Photocopier is located in the room to the right of the main reading room. Copies cost 10 cents per page. The copy machine accepts the Tulane One Card and cash. Cards may be purchased from the VTS machine. Interlibrary LoanTulane Medical Center personnel can request materials not found in our collection from other libraries using the interlibrary loan service, ILLiad. To request materials, after registering with ILLiad, fill out the ILLiad/Interlibrary Loan form (online only). There is no charge for this service.
