The Reference Department is staffed from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Firday.  Virtual assistance provided as soon as possible by email or via the Ask a Librarian form.

Health Science Information, Discovery and Location

Answers to your questions!  

Personal assistance is provided for research support and information discovery, including advice on database selection, search strategy recommendations, verification of citations, location of current and historic information in all formats and citation management suggestions.  Call if you have problems with full-text access from off-campus or from a hospital or clinic.  The librarians gladly help in the location of full text electronic resources and advice on utilizing the entire electronic collections of Tulane University .   

Collection Development in Support of the Tulane Mission

Can we request this.?  

The Reference Department works in liaison with the Tulane faculty, staff and students on the recommendation of resources in support of Tulane's educational mission and support of the entire Tulane health science community. Requests may be made in person, by e-mail, phone or via the library website. The Library collection development manual is available online.

Library Instruction for the Health Science Literature

How do you?  

Library Instruction is a primary responsibility of the Reference Department.  In addition to General Classes and Orientations, a wide range of courses are taught. Classes include courses on specific databases (Ovid, PubMed, Web of Science), database management software classes (RefWorks or End Note), clinical point of contact resources and evidence based medicine (Cochrane).   Classes are also available on request.  Coverage of the course material may be customized.  Contact the Library for scheduling.
