ILLiad -Interlibrary Loan service - is a free online service for requesting, tracking and retrieving documents from any location. As a distance student you will use ILLiad to request any items that are not available electronically. To find ILLiad go to the Rudolph Matas Library home page. A link is located on the upper green bar on every page. The Rudolph Matas Library is your "home" library, so make your interlibrary loan requests through us, not the Howard-Tilton library. Register by clicking on First Time Using ILLiad? Fill out your personal information, selecting Distance Ed Grad as your status. Create a user name and password. It may be easiest to use your Tulane email user name and password, and you can also enter a "hint" to help you remember. If you forget your password, don't reregister. Click on Forget Your Username or Password? and notify the ILL office by email. You can change your registration information in the main menu under Review Personal Information in the main menu. To order an item, at the Main Menu select and fill out a request form. For a journal article, if available, please include the PMID or UI number. If you need a rush request, state that in the Notes field and email or call the ILL department. The normal process time is 1-2 days but it can take longer, so plan ahead. Submit the completed request. You can check to see if the request has gone through and track its status in View Modify/Outstanding Requests, under Review Requests near the bottom of the Main Menu. We will scan journal articles or book chapters that are available in print format and located in our library. If we don't have a journal article or book chapter, we will send your request on to another library to fill. You will be notified by email when a request is available. To retrieve the article, sign in to ILLiad, and click on View/Download Electronic Articles. Book Requests - If you need a book and it is not available electronically, we will ship a book from our library collection to you. Books can be checked out for 3 weeks. They can be renewed once over the phone or through the Library Catalog, My Account, unless on hold for someone else. While there are no daily fines, after three overdue notices you will be fined $10 per item, and your library privileges suspended. Please note: We will not borrow and ship a book from another library. However, we can show you how to locate materials in your local academic library to which you might have access. Don't hesitate to contact the library for help. If you have questions don't hesitate to call or email us.
