Barcelone Pestilence

This medal was struck in honor of the physicians, Mazet, Pariset, Bailley Francois and Audourad, who courageously devoted their lives to the medical care of the populace during the pestilence. A bronze medal (48 mm).

Recumbent figure with civic crown and shield of Barcelona. Upon her a flying spirit pours oil from a vase. To her aid come Faith and Hygeia. In rear, the city walls, Ex. SAEVIENTE IN BARCINONAM / PEETILENTIA / MDCCCXXI. Signed, GAYRARD INV. complete the circle.
