Information.
The Tulane Naval ROTC was founded in 1938. In 1942
it commissioned its first officers. Since that time over 2,060 Navy and Marine officers have been commissioned.
Over the years there have been several class reunions, which
stimulated interest in the development of an alumni association.
This small group grew gradually over the next few years culminating
in 1996 with the formation of the Tulane Naval ROTC Alumni
Association, Inc., a non-profit corporation. The IRS considers
the association as a tax exempt organization as described in Code
Section 501 (c)(3).
The purpose of the association as stated in its articles of
incorporation is to promote the welfare of the NROTC Midshipmen of
Tulane University by aiding, encouraging and fostering the
education, instruction and training of these Midshipmen and
enhancing their education in the traditions of the United States
Navy and Marine Corps through contact with former Tulane Midshipmen
who served as commissioned officers in the United States Navy and
Marine Corps.
***Annual
Dues Drive***
If you have not paid dues in 2008 and are not a lifetime member,
please consider paying. Our association supports the
Midshipmen Battalion in many small ways with our meager budget.
In recent years we have provided a ping pong table, foos ball table,
barbeque grills, etc. to support the battalion in ways that the
government cannot. We pay for the mailing of "The Helm"
to our members (this costs close to $500 per mailing and we mail
regardless of dues status). We are also involved in preserving
the history of our members and the NROTC unit with the Archives
Project. Please help if you are able to do so.
