Tulane Studies in Political Science (TSPS) was begun by the Political Science Department in the early 1950s, the first volume being published in 1954. It was the fourth Tulane Studies to be founded, following ones in English, Philosophy and Zoology. All of these publications were initially funded by the Graduate School.

To date, 21 volumes of TSPS have been published, primarily in two formats: (1) single-authored monographs by a Tulane political scientists, and (2) edited collections of essays by several authors, at least one editor and one author being a Tulane political scientist.
