The Honorable Gene Taylor, United States House of Representatives

 

January 14th, 2007

Gene Taylor, a 1976 graduate of the department, has represented the 4th District of Mississippi since 1989. He has put his seniority in the House of Representatives to work for Mississippi in the recovery effort since Hurricane Katrina. As a member of the Armed Services Committee, he is the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Seapower and Expeditionary Forces. On the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee he serves on the Water Resources and Environment and the Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Subcommittee. Taylor, a member of the Conservative Democrats' Blue Dog Coalition, has worked closely with Republicans as well as Democrats to pass legislation and secure assistance in recovery for his coastal district.
