BIENVENIDOS & BEM-VINDOS
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese of Tulane University has a long and distinguished history of researching and teaching the languages, literatures, and cultures of the Iberian Peninsula, Latin America, and Lusophone Africa. Our department's programs range from the most elementary instruction in these two languages, through advanced seminars in literature, culture, and linguistics for undergraduate majors and minors and for graduate students pursuing Ph.D. degrees.
For the academic year 2008-2009 our department consists of thirteen regular faculty members, six full-time lecturers, and one visiting professor who pursue a wide range of disciplinary, theoretical, regional, period, and genre specializations. Our faculty members have worked closely with interdisciplinary programs such as Latin American Studies, Brazilian Studies, African and African Diaspora Studies, Women’s Studies, and Medieval Studies, Asian Studies, and the Literature Program.
