Marilyn Miller's research interests concern Caribbean discourse, transatlantic and transamerican studies, immigrant cultures and communities, slavery, poetics, translation, popular music and dress. She is the author The Rise and Fall of the Cosmic Race: The Cult of Mestizaje in Latin America (University of Texas Press, 2004). Professor Miller's current book project examines the relationship between poetry and slavery in a comparative context, with chapters on writers from the United States and Cuba.
