This page
is made just for women by the female members of TMAR. We are going
to address some issues specific to you. College is a high risk time
for you to be a victim of rape, but there are a few easy things
you can do to protect yourself and keep from being an easy target.
By doing these simple things you can go out on dates and party knowing
that you are less likely to be a victim. Another aspect facing women
is that we often have to support our friends that are victims. 1
out of 4 college women will be a victim of rape or sexual assault.
A good reality check is to think of four of your friends or roommates,
now pick one of you. It's easy to say that it can't happen to you
or anyone you know, but that's just not true. Date rape isn't limited
to a particular race, income bracket, or type of person. It can
happen to you. This page will provide you with resources to assist
you in knowing what to do if you or someone you know is raped. We've included here a list of helpful general tips for your safety.
Below are
some links to topics that we feel are important and helpful to prevent
yourself from being a victim.
