Director's Message

Dear Friends,
History has shown us that women are the foundation of a healthy and strong community. Women are, by tradition, the decision makers in the family. However, we have become aware that the rapid developments in the community and the health sciences have not adequately taken women’s needs into consideration. Greater gaps exist in our knowledge of female biology and women’s health than originally thought. We have a lot of work to do to catch up.
The Tulane Xavier National Center of Excellence in Women’s Health (TUXCOE) is one of but a few nationally designated centers in Women’s Health. It is the only such Center where a private university, Tulane, and a historically black university, Xavier, have partnered to jointly leverage the mission of women’s health.
Together with other academic institutions and community partners in New Orleans and Louisiana we are directing our women’s health efforts under the TUXCOE mission:
"To enhance women’s health and well-being through communication, prevention and leadership.”
Please join us in our endeavors and help us make a difference in women’s lives.
With kindest regards,
Jeanette H. Magnus, M.D., Ph.D., Director
