The requirements may change. The School of Continuing Studies serves both students who wish to prepare for the CPA exam while they earn a degree as well as students who already have a degree but lack the specified accounting and or business courses. In order to sit for the Uniform Certified Public Accountant (CPA)Examination, a student must have earned a bachelor degree from an accredited institution, have earned 150 semester credits as prescribed by the Louisiana CPA State Board Rules, including 24 credits of business courses, with an acceptable Business Law course (BSBL 345 Commercial Law), and must complete 24 credits of specific accounting courses. SCS suggests the following program of study, which allows for prerequisite courses: * not included in the required 24 accounting credits Suggested Program of Study Credits BSAC 111 Elementary Accounting I * 3 BSAC 112 Elementary Accounting II * 3 BSAC 221 Intermediate Accounting I 3 BSAC 222 Intermediate Accounting II 3 BSAC 331 Cost Accounting 3 BSAC 341 Income Tax 3 BSAC 342 Corporate Tax 3 BSAC 451 Auditing 3 BSAC 562 Advanced Accounting 3 Accounting elective above the 100 level 3 Total 30 Students seeking a degree while preparing for the CPA exam must complete the same courses. Some of these courses may be used as general electives satisfying degree requirements.
