New Student Information:
Welcome to the School of Continuing Studies

The School of Continuing Studies, formerly University College, was founded in 1942 to make Tulane's academic traditions available to everyone regardless of age or financial resources. Our primary mission is to foster a tradition of continuous learning.

We do so through strong faculty, excellent resources, and the University's superb liberal arts and sciences traditions. Our instructors include both Tulane's full-time faculty and area professionals who bring practical applications to academic concepts. Academic support services include libraries, research facilities, and computer labs, individualized academic advising, career planning and placement, tutoring, and counseling.

The School of Continuing Studies also has an open admission policy for part-time students: any student who has graduated from high school or has a GED is eligible to attend. We require no entrance tests and judge students more by academic potential than by past achievement. This policy gives the School of Continuing Studies a student profile that reflects the diversity of society.

We recognize that the workplace evolves rapidly, and that the educational process must be flexible to adapt to its needs. We pride ourselves on our flexibility and on our efforts to develop in each student the aesthetic, moral, and intellectual skills necessary to meet the demands of our complex world.

Sincerely,

Richard A. Marksbury, Dean
