New Orleans Drag King Collection

New Orleans Drag King Collection Project seeks oral histories, personal papers, ephemera reflecting the community activities and personal experiences of the drag king performance culture in New Orleans from its beginnings in the late 1990s to the current day.

We seek old and new flyers, press releases, sketches, notes, letters, and any other papers that document and provide insight into the various drag king activities in town.

We especially desire personal accounts of the drag king performance culture. By collecting individual histories, we hope to bring together the diverse perspectives and experiences of the culture. Interested participants can be interviewed through video-recording, audio-recording, or written response.

This collection will be organized, preserved and made available to the public at the Newcomb College Center for Research on Women archives.
