FEMA Trailer Update

FEMA has inspected the Belle Chasse, Tulane National Primate Research Center, and Rosen House parking lot sites and is now studying each area to determine how many trailers they can place at each location.  While the agency has not given us a date for trailer delivery, we anticipate that after site design and preparation, trailers may be in place and ready for occupancy sometime in January.  We will continue to provide additional information as we receive it from FEMA.

To address housing needs between the date employees are required to report back to work and the date the trailers will be delivered, the university is considering a number of interim housing options.

The next housing update will be posted on this website on Dec. 9 and will include as much information as possible about trailer availability, alternate housing options, and costs associated with all options.

To be eligible for any Tulane University housing options, including interim housing, employees must indicate a need for housing by applying for a Tulane-FEMA trailer.  Faculty or staff who were residents of Rosen House should contact Housing and Residence Life to apply for Tulane housing.  Employees who do not apply for a Tulane-FEMA trailer will be eligible for alternate housing options on a space-available basis.

The university is trying to accommodate the needs of all displaced faculty and staff but we cannot guarantee that every family can be accommodated.  Individuals are urged to make every effort to find housing on their own, including placing FEMA trailers on their property if the necessary infrastructure is present.  Please continue to actively search for housing, and be sure to visit the Temporary Housing Connection website for updates to listings of available property in the area.
