The New Wave

Photo of the Mardi Gras Indians

Celebrating Carnival on campus, several Mardi Gras Indians perform on the steps of McAlister Auditorium Wednesday (Feb. 22). In elaborate feather and bead costumes, they identify themselves as tribes to honor Native Americans and parade during Carnival. Shown here from the Golden Comanches are, from left, Irving Scott, second chief, and Juan Pardo, “spy boy” of the tribe.
