The New Wave

Photo of two Mardi Gras Indians

Two "big chiefs" celebrate Mardi Gras on the Tulane campus with their music and elaborate costumes. At left is Wallace Pardo, big chief of the Golden Comanches, along with Roderick Sylvas, big chief of the Wild Tchoupitoulas, representing Mardi Gras Indian tribes. In Christian traditions today is Ash Wednesday, so Carnival celebrations are over until next year.
