When parents come to campus for Parent/Family Weekend, it brings excitement across the university. This year, the special weekend (March 31–April 2) was combined with homecoming, called HomeRun 2006, and baseball games for the Green Wave against Rice University. On campus, there were tours for parents; the ring ceremony honoring seniors, with President Scott Cowen; lectures by faculty members including Ed Morse of sociology; student singing groups on the steps of McAlister Auditorium; a sidewalk artist doing caricatures; and an open house in the School of Architecture displaying work by students. —Photo by Jerry Ward
