The New Wave

Photo of a bust of Charles Finlay

A bust of Charles Finlay presides over the lobby of the Tulane University School of Medicine building, surrounded by post-Katrina reconstruction work. The building is part of the Tulane Health Sciences Center campus in downtown New Orleans, now recovering from hurricane damage. Finlay, who worked with renowned Tulane faculty member Stanford Chaille, was a pioneer in the study of yellow fever and the doctrine of mosquito-borne diseases.
