This palm tree and decorative light are from City Park in New Orleans, a favorite place for all New Orleanians, especially during the holidays. City Park suffered significant damage during Hurricane Katrina, but recently received a large donation from the Azby Fund to help with restoration. As a result, on Dec. 9 the park will open its annual holiday lights extravaganza, Celebration in the Oaks. Although the usual driving tour through the holiday lights will not be available this year, the 14-acre Botanical Garden will be decorated and open for walking tours from 5:30 to 10 p.m., Dec. 9–30.
