Alpha Epsilon Delta
"Truth I Pursue"

Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED) is a nationally recognized pre-medical honorary which was founded at the University of Alabama in 1926.  As stated in the AED Constitution, the object of this society is to encourage excellence in premedical scholarship, stimulate an appreciation of the importance of premedical education in the study of medicine, promote cooperation and contacts between medical and premedical students and educators in developing an adequate program of premedical education, to bind together similarly interested students, and to sue its knowledge for the benefit of health organizations, charities, and the community.
The national requirements for active membership are that the student must be engaged in courses leading to the study of medicine, shall have completed three semesters of college course work with a general scholastic average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale for an "A."  Character, general ability, and personality are considered carefully in the selection of every member.  Members shall be elected without any discrimination on the basis of race, sex, religion, creed or national origin.   Members are required to pay a one time national fee of $65.00 upon initiation into the premedical national honor society. We now also offer an Associate Membership for $5.00 per year. Associate members are not registered with the national office.
