News/Announcements
Dear St Louisans,
I first want to apologize that it has taken so long for me to contact you. It has been a busy year as I have been getting settled into the ways of my new school. Now that things have slowed down for the summer, I am catching up on all of the things that I have procrastinated.
I want to thank you so much for all of the books that you worked so hard to collect and donate to my classroom. There was so much response to my plea for help! I believe I received over 20 boxes of books! There was such an overwhelming reply that I happily shared books with teachers in my former and current schools.
You can imagine the heartbreak a person goes through when losing things that are dear to them. It took many years for me to create my initial collection of books; many of them had personal significance as well. To have them all destroyed at once seemed hopeless. At the beginning of the year, I wasn't sure what I was going to do in my new position as a reading teacher. i only had a few books that the school had provided and that I had purchased to start rebuilding my collection. "What would my students read??" By midyear, there had been so many books donated that my new question was "Will we have time to read everything??"
My students and I have so greatly appreciated all that you have given us. Without your help, the children would not have received the quality reading exposure that they need. With every new box of books, my students responded with delight and excitement to see what was inside. it was like opening a special Christmas gift! My hope was restored as I discovered many of my old favorites! I cannot than you enough for helping to bring this excitement and delight for reading into my classroom.
Sincerely,
Andrea Cox
