Tulane students in Washington DC

On October 5th, I hosted a reception at my office for displaced Tulane students who are going to Washington, DC area schools. The event was attended by 23 students, including 10 freshman who have never attended a single class at Tulane.

It was a great opportunity for the students to see old friends and network with each other. One student told me it was the best night she had experienced since the hurricane. Every one of them was enthusiastic about returning to Tulane, and there seemed to be a real sense of community among them.

At the event we passed out index cards on which students could write down things they needed, such as winter coats, lamps, etc. We then passed along these requests to local alumni, so that they can help the students directly.

Best regards,

Steve Slattery
Vice President, TAA
