Outstanding
Alumni of the Class of 1954
Mr. Fenner is both a 1954 (B.B.A.) and a 1969 graduate (M.B.A.) of
the A.B. Freeman School of Business. He attended Princeton University
from 1950-52. As a student, he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon
and Naval ROTC.
Mr.
Fenner is currently president and CEO of Fenner Investments, LLC.
He founded Fenner & Williams Investment Management Company, an
investment counseling firm, in 1972. Prior to establishing Fenner
& Williams, he worked with Merrill & Lynch, Inc., in New York
and Atlanta for ten years (he is the son of the Fenner in Merrill
Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith), and the International City Bank
in New Orleans for three years. He served for several years in the
United States Navy as a naval aviator and flight instructor. He served
an additional ten years in the United States Navy Reserves.
In
1976, Mr. Fenner was honored as the Freeman School’s Outstanding
Alumnus and received the Tulane Association of Business Alumni Achievement
Award. In 1996, he was nominated for the Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna
of the Year Award. He is presently a member of Tulane’s President’s
Council (having served since 1982), the Business School Council, and
the Tulane Association of Business Alumni. He is a former member of
the Tulane Medical Center’s Board of Governors and the Alumni
Association Board of Directors.
Mr.
Fenner is the treasurer of the Darwin & Mary Jane Fenner Family
Fund. This foundation gives to a host of local charities and non-profit
organizations.
Mr.
Fenner received the Paul Harris Fellowship from Rotary International
and the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America. He was
the recipient of the 1992 Cynthia Weddel Award of the American Red
Cross.
Mr.
Fenner has been deeply involved in many civic and charitable activities,
including serving as a board member of the World Trade Center, the
New Orleans Chamber of Commerce, the New Orleans Institute of Financial
Analysts, the Metropolitan Area Committee, the New Orleans Chapter
of the Young Men’s Christian Association, the New Orleans Chapter
of Boy Scouts of America, the Southeast Louisiana Chapter of the American
Red Cross, the National Conference of Christians and Jews, and the
Better Business Bureau. He has also served as president of the Rotary
Club of New Orleans and chairman of the Greater New Orleans Federation
of Churches.
Active socially, Mr. Fenner has been a member of the Stratford Club,
the Southern Yacht Club, New Orleans Country Club, the Lakeshore Club,
and the Boston Club. He has served as a board member of the City Club,
Le Debut des Jeunes Filles de la Nouvelle Orleans, and the Society
of Colonial Wars.
