The
Emeritus Club
ATHLETIC
LIAISON:
Keeps lines of communication open between the Emeritus Club and the
athletic department. The chair promotes the University's athletic
programs to the Emeritus Club and its Board.
UNIVERSITY
CURRENT AFFAIRS:
Keeps
The Emeritus Club informed of current University affairs: accomplishments,
events, and issues facing the entire University community.
TULANE
ALUMNI ASSOCIATION LIAISON:
Keeps lines of communication open between the Emeritus Club and the
Tulane Alumni Association; promotes TAA and its programs to the Board
of Governors and other Emeritus volunteers (such as reunion committee
members).
TRAVEL:
Assists
the Tulane Travel program coordinator in the selection of the annual
Emeritus Club trip. Informs the Board of Governors of other trips
of interest.
FALL
EMERITUS CLUB REUNIONS:
Promotes
the 55th, 60th, 65th, 70th year and later reunions among population
of The Emeritus Club. Coordinates with Alumni Affairs staff and interested
class reunion leaders.
HOMECOMING:
This
committee plans the Emeritus Club Homecoming luncheon and other activities
around the University's Homecoming schedule.
EDUCATIONAL
CONFERENCE:
Promotes the Educational Conference to the New Orleans area Emeritus
Club population. This committee will serve on a joint Educational
Conference Advisory Board with members of Tulane Alumni Association
Committees and other interested faculty, staff and alumni. They will
particularly offer input about speakers or other programs for the
Emeritus Club, i.e. opening, session.
50-YEAR
REUNION:
Advises in the planning of the 50-Year Commencement Luncheon, and
the second graduation ceremonies. As needed, 75th reunion arrangements
will be included in these plans.
SENIOR
EVENT:
Planning of the joint event for the senior class and the 50-year class
and their families. The committee coordinates with the Alumni Affairs
staff, academic deans, registrar's office and student affairs staff
to coordinate and promote the event.
OUTSTANDING
ALUMNUS OF THE 50 YEAR CLASS AWARD:
Reviews
class-mates', deans' and staff nominations and class lists, requests
research write-ups for most highly qualified nominees. Meets and offers
a recommendation to the Board regarding the best candidate. Orders
and presents recipient with a plaque at the Commencement luncheon.
ENTERTAINMENT:
Recommends
programs that will be of interest to the Emeritus Club population
and coordinates the programs, invitations and menus with Alumni Affairs
staff.
NOMINATING:
This
committee's work determines the future of the Emeritus Club. Since
its inception, the Emeritus Club Board of Governors has attempted
to represent all eleven schools and colleges of the University. Nominating
will also offer slates of officers each year when the Board of Governors
votes in the Chair and Vice Chair. The Chair of the Board of Governors
will determine the appropriate size of this committee.
(Committee
appointments are solely up to the Chair of The Emeritus Club Board
of Governors. However, indications of interest for chairs and committee
volunteers are welcomed and encouraged. Each committee chair may include
members from the general population of The Emeritus Club; we want
to include as many members as possible.)
