Tulane Medical Alumni Association
July 25, 2006
Dear Alumnus/a:
On behalf of the Tulane Medical Alumni Association, it is my pleasure to invite you to the 2006 Tulane Medical Alumni Homecoming scheduled for October 27-28. We would love to have you join us. I have been in touch with your classmates, Dr. Gene Usdin and Dr. Sam Logan, and we all feel that it would be wonderful to have the Class of 1946 come out this year and enjoy the reunion festivities.
Please note that Study Club, on October 27, promises to be an exciting and interesting session. Study Club is the academic portion of the School of Medicine’s Reunion activities. Attendees of this program will receive 3 credit hours in category I credit toward the AMA’s Physician’s Recognition Award.
Click here for the information sheet and reservation form that will give you a detailed itinerary and the fees. The dean’s lunch will be a great opportunity to visit with classmates, hear from the dean, and an opportunity to congratulate our awardees. One of the awardees is your classmate – Dr. Gene Usdin. He is a very worthy recipient of the Tulane Medical Alumni Association’s Distinguished Service Award.
If you have any questions, please contact me at 504-862-8017 or by email at chayes@tulane.edu. I look forward to seeing you!
Sincerely,
Cynthia T. Hayes

Dear Classmate:
What a year this has been for those of us in New Orleans and on the Gulf Coast! Katrina and Rita, especially the former, were devastating. We evacuated for Katrina, as did most of the population of New Orleans, and watched the news on TV – it was catastrophic. When we returned, the reality was really catastrophic – far beyond what the TV and other media reported. New Orleans has had a tough time attempting to make a come back, but the French Quarter and some other tourist attractions (e.g., the Aquarium of the Americas, Audubon Zoo, New Orleans Museum of Art, etc.) are up and running. Our medical school, under Paul Whelton, has done as well as can be hoped under the circumstances. Paul has done a splendid job in keeping the school running.
The purpose of this letter is to inquire whether or not you might be interested in coming to New Orleans for our 60 th class reunion the weekend of October 27-29. We have tentatively reserved Arnaud’s Restaurant for Friday night, October 27, with cocktails at 6:30 pm, followed by dinner an hour later. That noon, there will have been a Tulane Medical Alumni Association luncheon at the Audubon Tea Room. Also, for those who are interested, the Homecoming football game will be played Saturday.
We want to get some idea of how many, at this time, think they would attend and whether or not your spouse or a guest will accompany you. Would you please take a couple of minutes to complete and return the enclosed reservation form?
It’s been so long since we have seen most of you, and it would be great getting together and bringing each other up-to-date. Some of you have children – and even grandchildren – who have become physicians. The years have passed so quickly, and the ravages of aging have taken their toll during these 60 years.
This letter carries with it fond memories and our warmest regards.
Cordially,
Sam Logan, M.D.
Gene Usdin, M.D.
