Welcome to Tulane University Asian Studies Web Site.   Asian Studies draws on curricular offerings from Economics, Philosophy, Political Science, Anthropology, Sociology, Art, , and History.  It offers instructions in the Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese languages.

 

 

The Asian Studies program offers an undergraduate program leading to a coordinate major in LAS. The curricular offerings draw on courses offered by several departments that focus on the art, anthropology, economics, history, political institutions, religions and philosophy, and sociology of the Asian countries and their people. It also offers language courses in Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese. Asian studies credit may also be earned in the semester abroad program at Kansai Gaidai University and Gashuin University in Japan with which the program maintains an active cooperative/exchange arrangement.

 

 

Requirement for Coordinate Major in Asian Studies

 

The coordinate major in Asian studies consists of nine courses irrespective of whether the courses are three or four credits taken from the courses listed below. Students who do not satisfy the language proficiency with an Asian language must include within the nine courses at least two courses in an Asian language.
