ASTJ 102 Beginning Japanese 2 (4)
Prerequisite: 101 or equivalent.
This is the second semester of Japanese language course. Students who take this course must know how to read and write hiragana and katakana perfectly and must have the basic knowledge of Japanese grammar. Students will learn to: 1) write and read approximately ninety kanji and their compounds, 2) express their likes and dislikes, 3) communicate with sales clerks to purchase goods, 4) order food and drinks at restaurants, 5) describe about their family members, 6) give advice and offer suggestions by the end of the semester. Oral and aural proficiency will be emphasized along with grammatical accuracy.
