ASTJ 203 Intermediate Japanese 1
This is the third semester Japanese language course. Students who take this course must complete the previous two semesters of the Japanese language or must have the equivalent knowledge of the language. That means, students must know: 1) how to write and read hiragana and katakana and about one hundered basic kanji, 2) functions of the particles, and 3) how to ask and answer questions to obtain information. . In this course students will keep studying about one hundred new kanji and their Combinations. Students will also learn different speech levels and styles so that they will be able to communicate with anyone appropriately in various situations.
Course Goals 1) Students must understand such speech levels and styles as informal/plain and formal/polite and the usage of these forms in appropriate situations. 2) Students are expected to be able to communicate by creating with the Japanese language. That means, students will speak Japanese not only from the learned and memorized phrases and lists of words, but will learn to describe and state their feelings and opinions in their own expressions. |
