Rob Cooper, Assistant Coach



Rob Cooper is in his second season as assistant coach and camp director for the Green Wave. Cooper will handle the hitters and outfielders, and coach third base this season. Cooper came to Tulane after serving as an assistant coach at Wake Forest in 1996.

Prior to his stint with the Demon Deacons, Cooper was an assistant at his alma mater, the University of Miami. As an assistant coach, he played an integral role in helping the

Hurricanes to the College World Series in 1994 and 1996. His College World Series experience will be a valuable asset to a highly talented Tulane team.

During his collegiate playing days, Cooper had the opportunity to learn from two of college baseball's finest coaches. While at Sacramento City College, Cooper played for USA Olympic Coach Jerry Weinstein. As a first baseman he had a junior college batting average of .330. After his stint at SCC, Cooper played for Jim Morris at Miami before joining his staff upon graduation.

A native of Sacramento, Calif., Cooper attended El Camino High School, where he was an All City performer in baseball.

Cooper is engaged to be married to Maureen Lantz, an associate athletic director at Miami, on August 1.
