Jim Schlossnagle, Assistant Coach

Jim Schlossnagle returns to the Green Wave for his fifth season after coaching the pitching staff to a 40-21 record and ending the year ranked first in Conference USA and seventh in the nation with an ERA of 4.02. Along with serving as pitching coach, Schlossnagle also heads up the recruiting efforts of the Green Wave.

In eight years of college coaching, 15 pitchers coached by Schlossnagle have signed professional contracts.

Prior to coming to Tulane, Schlossnagle served as pitching coach at Clemson in 1993, where he helped the Tigers to a 45-20 record, an ACC Championship and a second place finish in the NCAA Mideast Regional.

Schlossnagle spent three seasons as an assistant at Elon (N.C.) College, one of the most prominent NAIA programs in the country, before going to Clemson. He helped lead the Fightin' Christians to a 99-40 record, two South Atlantic Conference Championships, a District 26 title, and an Area 7 regional appearance.

As the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator, Schlossnagle played an integral part in establishing a strong pitching tradition at Elon. The Fightin' Christians ranked second nationally in earned run average (2.41) in 1990, when the team recorded a school record 40 wins. In 1991, Schlossnagle's pitching staff ranked third nationally with a 2.85 ERA.

A native of Hagerstown, Md., Schlossnagle was a pitcher on the 1989 Elon squad that finished 39-7 and appeared in the NAIA World Series. However, an arm injury in the fall of 1990 curtailed his playing career. He graduated magna cum laude from Elon with a bachelor's degree in physical education and recently earned his master's of education and health promotion from the University of New Orleans.

Schlossnagle and his wife, Kami, reside in River Ridge.
