Chronology of New Kingdom and Post-Imperial Egypt (1570-525 B.C.
The chronology of the pharaohs of the great dynasties XVIII-XX is subject to debate. The traditional reckoning was determined by the accession of Thutmose III which was dated to 1504 B.C. (the so-called "high" chronology). This date is now recalculated as 1479 B.C. ("low" chronology). There is thus a margin of 25 years between high and low chronology. The date of 1490 B.C. ("middle" chronology) is not accepted by most scholars. The chronology below is based on the low chronology throughout.
