CONCERT BAND
The Tulane University Concert Band operates during the spring semester. Rehearsals are held every Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:15-6:30pm. Repertoire covers significant 20th Century compositions for band plus classic transcriptions and contemporary pieces. From 1938-1968, Tulane Band Director John Morrissey established a very popular and successful band program. He published over 50 original compositions for concert band, and presented concerts to full houses in McAlister Auditorium. The contemporary Tulane University Concert Band will explore Mr. Morrissey's musical scores, to re-discover and share this great in-house resource that is unique to Tulane University.
Recent performances of the Tulane University Concert Band include The New Orleans Centre, the National D-Day Museum, The Louisiana Superdome, Mardi Gras, the Tulane President's Concert and the annual Spring Concert in collaboration with the Tulane University Orchestra.
