Current Topics in Protein Structure and Chemistry

Course Director: Samuel J. Landry, Ph.D., Department of Biochemistry

Class will meet weekly in the Biochemistry Departement Conference Room (6301) for two hours to discuss current and classic papers selected from the primary literature by the course director. One paper per week will be analyzed in depth in order to appreciate (1) identification of a research problem, (2) design of an experimental approach, (3) technical limitations, and (4) interpretation of data. A broad range of experimental systems and strategies will be covered, with the common thread being post-translational modification, localization, and degradation of proteins. The time and location of class meetings will be determined in consultation with course participants.

Register for GBCH 701 (2 hrs.) with the help of Tynette Hills in the Biochemistry Dept. Office.

An organizational meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 31st at 5pm in order to select a day/time for future class meetings.
