The CeROS researchers have been actively working on major world river systems for over two decades (see Research History). Collectively, CeROS represents more than 70 years of experience in river-ocean studies that includes research in 7 of the top 10 major world river systems. This research has been supported by over 50 grants from a dozen different sources (state, federal, private and international).
Establishment of CeROS. CeROS is a new research center that was established in 2003 with support from Tulane University and the Lallage Feazel Wall Fund. CeROS builds upon our existing strengths: ideal geographic location; a strong existing nucleus of respected scientists; and, a proven track record in river-ocean research and education.
Our immediate goal for the future is to develop CeROS into a National Science Foundation (NSF) Science and Technology Center. The NSF STC Program was established in 1987 to “fund important basic research and education activities and to encourage technology transfer and innovative approaches to interdisciplinary activities”
