Mission

Based on its international reputation for research in tropical medicine and infectious diseases, its strengths in AIDS research, malaria, tuberculosis and vaccine research, clinical excellence, and unique patient population, Tulane established a Center for Infectious Diseases (CID) in 1998 through its School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. The mission of the CID is to study emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, both in the United States and abroad. The CID draws upon faculty from numerous Tulane departments, including Adult and Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Microbiology and Immunology in the School of Medicine, in the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, Chemistry and Cell and Molecular Biology in Liberal Arts and Sciences, Parasitology and Microbiology at the Primate Center, and the Tulane-LSU-Charity Hospital General Clinical Research Center.

The Tulane CID is research based so if you have come to this page needing information about treatment for an infectious disease please call one of these toll-free numbers at Tulane University Hospital and Clinic:
