HIPAA Compliance and Contract Management

As the Office of the Privacy Official for Tulane University, the HIPAA Compliance Office designs, directs, and monitors the Health Sciences Center HIPAA compliance program to prevent, detect, and respond appropriately to violations of the law. This Office is responsible for compliance with all policies and procedures related to the Privacy Program designed to comply with the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996) standards for privacy.

In its Billing Compliance training function, the Office maintains the Billing Compliance Education website and records training credits earned by TUMG faculty and staff. The Privacy Official works with the Departmental Chairmen and Administrators toward meeting the organization’s Compliance goals.

In its Contracts Management function, this Office manages all aspects of the contracting process for Agreements for the Health Sciences Center as assigned. It is the repository for all contracts involving TUMG physicians and clinicians.

The Contract Management and HIPAA Compliance Office fosters a corporate culture that promotes integrity and ethical behavior in all matters relating to compliance, and acts as consultant to faculty and staff on privacy , compliance, and contract issues.
