Hakm Y. Murad
I am from the greater New Orleans area and currently a junior studying Biomedical Engineering at Tulane University. My research interests include High Intensity
Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) and its effects on an array of different cancer types. Specifically, I investigate cancer ablation in vivo and in vitro using HIFU and
Percutaneous Ethanol Injection (PEI). Recently we have advanced our techniques to using HIFU on a xenograft mouse model. This was a multi month project in which
we learned a great deal about the future place HIFU can hold in today's treatment of cancer throughout the body. I hope to transition this system to a portable
setting with the help of Dr. Khismatullin and our fellow collaborators.
In my spare time I enjoy playing football, weightlifting, and car circuit racing. I have always had a passion for sports and I plan to compete in an American tour
as a racing driver for my home town racing club next summer.
