I am originally from Baton Rouge, LA and currently am a Senior Biomedical Engineering student. My research interests focus on studying the effects of cytokines and mediators released from tissue resident cells such as mast cells and macrophages treated with Oxidized Low-Density Lipoprotein (OxLDL) in the progression of atherosclerosis. Recently, my lab has shown that macrophages and mast cells, treated with OxLDL, release TNF-alpha and histamine, which, in turn, synergistically induce monocyte adhesion to endothelial cells within the blood vessel. Early stages of atherosclerosis are associated with an abnormal increase in the number of monocytes adhered to vascular endothelium as well as with an increase in the number of mast cells and macrophages in the subendothelial space.

In my spare time, I enjoy cooking and exercising. I also enjoy being outside because schoolwork and research work requires sitting inside a building all day, and one needs fresh air.
