SYLLABUS

Schedule of Classes: Lectures TR 11-12:15, Laboratory T 1-5. All classes meet in room 307 Dinwiddie Hall.

Field trips: On announced dates (Saturdays or Sundays in March and April), and may return to campus after 5 PM. Attendance on at least two field trips is required to pass the course.

Textbook: Zomlefer: Guide to Flowering Plant Families.

Supplies: Drawing supplies (white drawing paper, hard pencils, erasers, straight-edge); folding hand-lens (8× or 10× magnification); dissecting tools (optional).

Notebook: Laboratory exercises will comprise a notebook to be prepared according to instructions and examined at announced times.

Quizzes: A short quiz will be given weekly. Quizzes will emphasize the previous week's work (lecture and laboratory), but may be cumulative.

Grades: Course grades will be computed as follows:

Average of ten highest quiz grades: 50%
Midterm examination: 20%
Final examination: 20%
Laboratory and field trips: 10%

Attendance: Students are responsible for meeting all course requirements, including examinations, quizzes, and field trips; no allowance is made for University-sponsored activities (e.g., ROTC, varsity sports, club sports, etc.).

Make-up quizzes: Not available.

Make-up examinations: Notification of absence must be given prior to exam and a letter provided from the Dean's office.

Extra-credit work: Not available.

Honor Code: It is expected that all students will abide by the ideals expressed in the Honor Codes of their respective colleges and divisions.
