Economics' 2015 Award Winners

  • The J. Ernest Tanner Award for Excellence in Economics - Nicole E. Florack (above, center)
    This, our highest award, goes each year to the student with the highest GPA among all graduating economics majors. Nicole has earned a 4.00 overall GPA in her years at Tuane, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Mathematics, and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. She has received numerous academic honors, and has also written an original and creative honors thesis on the theory of corporate tax noncompliance. She is most deserving of the J. Ernest Tanner Award.

  • The Newcomb College Award in Economics - Izabel E. Arnold (above, right)
    The Newcomb College Award in Economics goes to the outstanding female economics major. With an overall GPA of 3.992, Izabel has combined a major in economics with one in Political Science with a concentration in International Relations. She is most deserving of the Newcomb College Award in Economics.

  • The Mathematical Economics Award - Paul H. Cripe (not pictured)
    This award is given to the student with the highest GPA among those graduating economics majors who also have a significant concentration in mathematics. For 2015, Paul Cripe is our deserving recipient; he has earned an overall GPA of 3.936 at Tulane, combining an economics major with a second in mathematics.

  • The Paul Tulane College Award in Economics - Harrison R. Grieb (above, left)
    This award each year goes to the outstanding male economics major. This year our recipient is Harrison R. Grieb, who has earned a GPA of 3.994 at Tulane, and graduates this year with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics.

  • The Senior Scholar Award for Research in Economics - Nicole E. Florack
    The Senior Honors Scholar Award is given by the Honors College to a graduating economics major with the highest GPA among all graduating economics majors in the Honors Program. With a GPA of 4.00 at Tulane, Nicole has received numerous academic honors such as recognition as a Tulane Presidential Scholar and a Garvin Shands Saunders Merit Scholar, as well as membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Golden Key Honor Society.
